What does /sci/ think of astrology?

>> No.10475090

Less useful to astronomy than alchemy was to chemistry. I guess it was a good hobby for medieval math nerds who also liked creative writing.

modern astrologers are basically the same as modern psychics like Miss Cleo. in other words, a scam

>>10475098
how then are they able to predict complex human behaviors? https://futurism.media/how-accurate-is-astrology

>> No.10475155

>>10475142
Because they're just providing a list of common human behaviors dumbass. It's a similar concept as those psychics who say random shit like "I hear an M, a Mike, Matthew?" and so on, eventually someone will have a connection and then they just spew bullshit.

>John H. Nelson, an electrical engineer, was hired by Radio Corporation of America to look into the possibility of a connection between fluctuations in radio disturbance and celestial phenomena. Checking records back to 1932, Nelson found that most magnetic storms (which cause radio disturbance) occurred when two or more planets were lined up in specific angular positions relative to the sun. Further, he found that the atmosphere was particularly disturbance-free when two or more planets were lined up a different but equally specific angles.

where is the fucking proof of this shit? I see no stats, no method, nothing. That's not how science work

Also, he might be good at electric engineering, but this has nothing to do with astrology

You obviously didnt read the article. I'm not going to quote the whole thing back to you

Vile and cancerous.

>> No.10475586

I give it weight only because of how rooted in ancient societies it was.

As it is right now, it's just excuses for the behavior of roasties.

I'm not sure if >>10475465 seriously read the entire article, I know I didn't because I can read the first few paragraphs and already realize it's bullshit. I read the first few, then skimmed through the rest.
That anon's point literally still stands. What you sent us was not a scientific paper or study, nor did it actually cite any papers (not correctly, at least) and it isn't even a good article in itself.
THIS is a research paper: https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1367-2630/aace0c We want to see tested evidence and citations, not a fucking article that doesn't even cite the stories it's telling (key word: stories)
