A child could see this is wrong, yet it is taught in every university freshman course in the USA. Why is physics such bullshit?

I suggest you read Principia Mathematica first. Then you can come back to this board if you still have any questions.

Nice art by the way.

no

it's not

it's called newton's law of gravity. an object of mass M near the surface of the earth falling a distance h has a work Mgh done on it, the velocity it has after falling h is given by (1/2)mv^2 = mgh, and if it hits the ground after falling h, the energy mgh might be enough to fuck up e.g. a helicopter

The helicopter is accellerating mass of air downwards. That is the work being done.

Work should be done by gravity in all three of OP's images.

How did the helicopter reach that hight..? It's almost as if it applied work in order to get up there

>> No.10411321

>>10411083
this image doesn't know if the work is being done by the helicopter or the ground
by earth:
>gravity * 0 movement = 0
>gravity * height = work
>gravity * height = work
by helicopter:
>thrust * 0 movement = 0
>thrust * negative height = negative work
>0 thrust * negative height = 0

1) The blade does work, accelerating air downward over the height of the blade. If the thing has forward velocity, drag does work on the helicopter. Gravity does no work.

2) Assuming the blade does not spin (it will irl), the blade does no work. Gravity does work=helicopter*g*height fallen and drag does work.

3) Ditto, up until broken parts are thrown from the wreck

Fuck off OP
