You can't just plug values into formal power series my dude. You should either check the convergence of the series and check if your value lies in the convergence domain, or you should check direcly if the series converges at that value.

In your case the series is clearly divergent.

Where does that second step come from?
If it's the first two terms of the sum then the sum would no longer be from n=0

3.5kg. Flies need to displace their weight with air to be able to fly, so they exert a collective downward force of 5*0.5kg, so 2.5kg. The jar itself weighs 1kg, so the scale will read 3.5kg prove me wrong.

>> No.10401893

>>10401602
Would it be 1.5 assuming the jar is airtight?

>>10401893
Yes
>>10401765
Why are you assuming each individual fliy weights .5 kg and not the collective

>> No.10402381

>>10401602
depends on the condition of the jar. Air pressure inside may increase due to flight of flies, but in all directions. However in a highly pressurized jar the downward pressure fluctuations caused by flight is more realized by the scale. In any event, once the flies die the scale will read 1.5

>> No.10404093

>>10402381
if the flies are hovering perfectly still and uniform, and the jar is sealed, the scale still read 1.5 kg
