You have 2 doors, one leads to a billion dollars and the other leads to some shit you dont want.
There is a guard in front of each door, one is always lying and the other is always telling the truth.
You dont know which guard is lying and you dont know which door leads to the billion dollars.
you can ask a guard only one question in order to get to the billion dollars, what question will you ask?

Anyway, here's a similar, but harder riddle: There are three guards and two doors, one leads to <bad place>, the other leads to <good place>. Each of the guards either always tells the truth or always lies. One of them tells you that "two of us are liars". You only get to ask one question after this, what do you ask?

>> No.10385632

>>10385546
Same question, the guards that didnt say anything act as one. If there are two liers then its the other guards, if not then the one guard is the lier.

"I associate the truthful guard to the myuneez and the lying guard to the random shit. What's your door?" to any guard.

"Show me the door you'd show me if I asked you where the money is." to any guard.

If you needed half an hour, your IQ is worrying.

Ask "If I asked every guard to whether this door has a billion dollars behind it, would an odd number of them say yes?"
The answer to this question is yes for all three possibilities for which guards are liars.

T LL: If good door, 1 would say good. If bad door, 2 would say good. Original guard is honest about odd/even.
L LL: If good door, 0 would say good. If bad door, 3 would say good. Original guard lies.
L TT: If good door, 2 would say good. If bad door, 1 would say good. Original guard lies.

He could answer "idk" and the and it'd be true. The lying one would just say some bs. They're only compelled to tell the truth, not know everything, the chances are much lower than 50% of getting a good answer to a question of the caliber you're proposing.

Responses to “are you the liar?”
Truth teller: no
Liar: no

Responses to “is the money behind this door?”
Truth teller: yes
Liar: yes

This is a probability question. It’s the same as the 3 door gameshow question, aside from it being more binary.

OK then, addressing the guard:
"You have an answer string. If one thought something was true, you'd add A. If one thought it was false, you'd add B. Your single answer could be AA, BB, AB, or BA. There are 2 scenarios.
1) 1 + 1 = 2
2) the door you're guarding has a billion dollars
What is your answer?"

The classic answer is ask "what would your brother say" (or some shit like that).
But, I've been thinking about it and I came up with another valid solution. Approach one of the two guards and ask him "What would you say if I asked you: 'is the money behind your door'". WLOG say the money is behind this guard's door. If he is the liar, his answer to the subquestion "is the money behind your door" would be "no". Because he has to lie, his answer to the primary question would have to be yes. If the guard is on the truth-teller then his answer to the subquestion would be yes, and his answer to the primary question would be yes as well.

But by definition to always tell the truth, you have to know everything. You have to assume the guard is omniscient, otherwise he couldn't know anything for sure.
For example if you asked him if he has the money, he would be compelled say I don't know. Because he can't know for sure the money is behind the door. Maybe it was stolen, or maybe the guy who made him a guard was lying etc.
