What's your excuse? By going vegan you will be much healthier, cause much less suffering and harm and significantly reduce your impact on climate change.

Reminder that if everyone went vegan, we would need a shitload of farmland, and farmland requires a shitload of land with which to farm. This would make living space even more compressed and would probably ruin entire ecosystems for it to be sustainable. Keeping this land use in mind, remember that unless farmers use stuff like pesticides and GMO seeds for best crop per acre, the land use would fucking explode in order to keep up with the conventional method, pushing human and wildlife habitation zones, as well as manufacturing, commercial, and recreational zones into even more condensed and congested areas. Keeping up with the chemicals, now. Assuming we are not using the absolutely land-bloated organic farm model, we are still going to need a shitload of chemicals to optimize crop yield, which is only going to multiply the chemical runoff into our water supplies. This isn't even considering crop growing conditions like seasons, latitudes, weather conditions, and ground nutrients.
So, what's it going to be?
Monumental land destruction, rezoning, and chemical usage for the sole purpose of creating fruit/vegetable farms or keeping fruit/vegetable and animal farms roughly where they are?

You're retarded. The reason why so many people have high cholesterol is that our bodies evolved to be extremely efficient at storing cholesterol due to the relative rarity of eating meat in our hunter-gatherer past. Our ancestors ate meat maybe once every few weeks, we eat it every day, and the resulting high cholesterol is part of the reason for high rates of heart disease. Cholesterol is absolutely necessary for hormone synthesis, maintaining membrane fluidity, production of bile, production of vitamin D, etc.

Well, I prefer saving land and animals. See, the most environment-friendly means of agricultural production is polyculture, where you mix plants and animals together in a cyclical or quasi-cyclical ecosystem. It has the best yield per surface and respects all life. Your vegan food, because of your selfish self-righteous scumbag postmodern 2019 urban-snowflake-who-never-had-a-kitchen-garden-but-pretends-to-know-everything-about-agriculture standards, cannot involve animals and needs to be a monoculture. Because of that, you need tillage, fossil-fuel-burning tractors and tons of herbicides to make anything grow. Because all that shit literally genocides earthworms, the soil quickly becomes barren, which forces you to use artificial fertilizers that further kill worms as well as insects, which in turn starves birds. A meat-eating polyculturer literally kills millions upon millions fewer animals than the average vegan, but because you grew up in a big city and have never seen a farm in your life, you're willing to use """scientific""" studies that compare vegan monocultures to nonvegan monocultures and conclude that nonvegan polycultures are bad.

I'm not a vegan because I like animals. That and because I don't want to make it so I need a nutrition PhD to survive over 5 years.

I'm a bit interested but I can't really completely cut out the meat. It's just too good. I've cut down about 50% on my meat consumption though and I'm really happy with that.
Also vegans are about a lot more than just meat. I don't give a shit about the other bullshit though.

Common Farm Animals
US cattle population: ~87.7 million
Cattle diet is basically whole grains, grass and water and have negative impacts on health if that diet changes. I will give you that dairy cows can consume ~100lbs of feed in a day, but dry cows consume much less (~30lbs).

US broiler chicken population (2017): ~ 9 billion
Chicken diet is basically anything they find. Healthy raising (for stuff like eggs and higher quality meat) involves almost anything as long as it provides required amounts of carbs, fats, proteins, vits/mins, grit, and water. Typical broiler chicken lifespan is around 14 weeks. Chickens will eat roughly 1/4lb of feed a day.

US pig/hog population (2017): ~70 million
Pigs eat just about anything, from hay and pumpkin to bark (yum), compost (double yum), and dead animals. I am not sure exactly how much pigs will eat in a day, but the closest I found was that they can live off of pretty much just corn and can go on 4-12 lbs of alfalfa a day. Pigs can be sent to slaughterhouses as soon as six months.

More to come as long as the thread is still here.
