Is pre-calculus a hard class? I'm going to start my degree in environmental science

>> No.10373090

I don't get it. Calculus is one step before analysis in the States? Which means easy differentiation and a bit of integration right? THEN WTF IS PRE CALCULUS? BASIC ARITHMETIC????????

sorry for my ignorance tho

pre-calc was a joke at my uni. nobody showed up to lecture ever and the class average was an A- (pretty high for college)

Pre clac is harder than calc 1. It's the hardest parts of trig and algebra combined. At least with calc 1 you learn 3 or 4 areas max. Preclac is a mess of unorganized garbage that has no clue what it wants to be.

While this is clearly bait I'll answer it anyway. How easy or hard it is depends entirely on the professor. Some professors view it as a weed out course and will treat it as one. That said, it's one of those classes that you WANT to have a hard time in, because the better you do the easier calculus will be. It's one of my regrets, not taking the hardest Prof possible for that class because my trig is terrible.

As an actual environmental science grad, I took pre-cal a long time before graduating and barely passed.

That being said, I'm going to take an 8 week calculus course to qualify for post-grad program soon. Wish me luck brehs.

To OP: as long as you go to class and study, you will pass. Just sign up for the class and get it over with.

Also if you want any advice or tips I'm here for the next couple hours.

this image bothers me because it dropped the original joke, they could have shooped in a solar powered casio instead and had a multilayered meme.

Not a joke because my major is environmental science w/ emphasis in Bio and i had to go all the way to Calc 1. as for OP, precalc is surprisingly harder than calc, but both are easy as long as you dont cheat on ur hw

it's unironically the hardest math class all of the way up to graduate school.
