My experience (currently in my 2nd year) so far hasn't been great, the first year understandably had to cover a lot of basic topics so attending the classes amounted to squat, there was meant to be a class on assembly but that got cut due to staffing so the only real 'fun' I had that year was in my maths classes.
The societies that the people who attend this class get involved in routinely get ruined, either through general mismanagement or people who try and usurp the leadership positions. We were meant to have some good events this year (and a shitload of funding) for the CS society but through people having fits over 'inclusion' (they wanted someone kicked out because they made a joke) the students union responded by ejecting the president so we have to wait until the next election to get started again.
There's a clear split between the autists and brads in the class, I spent some time trying to get to know people in the prior group but they really go out of their way to not engage in conversation at all, not that it makes things any worse for myself, I just don't understand why they have to constantly be on the edge.
Thinking about it I was being a little hyperbolic as I've enjoyed my second year a little more since we've moved onto more challenging work.

My clown world university does a 5 year engineering masters program where you enter into it out of highschool and you pick a second undergraduate major.

I'm currently in my ultimate year of MEng in Mechanical Engineering and my second major was in Economics.

Big mistake, the economics program is a joke. It's just the material of 3 textbooks spread out over 3 years. I should have done maths or compsci.
But I guess I am lucky to be able to teach those topics to myself, I'm certainly reaching a much deeper level of understanding and integrating the knowledge into myself this way.

I get that, ochem turned out to be one of my favorite and easiest classes. Actually studying for an ochem 2 exam atm. I was technically in a chem/bio engineering program but the bio side was seriously lacking. I wouldn't say it's too ironic to switch out for that reason, I think chem is just a lot more interesting when you're looking at it as the fundamentals of biology instead of industrial applications. I actually added biochem as a major so I can take a biochem lab for majors next semester that's supposed to be helpful but I'm dropping it after that because triple majoring (and maybe even double) seems kind of retarded. Too bad we'll probably make a lot less doing the bio side of things but if it's more interesting and has more benefits for medicine and what not it's worth it.

I doubt anyone will believe it but I go to HBS. I bombed the SAT and didn't understand the importance of standardized testing when I was in HS. I went to a state university and dropped out my Senior year. Proceeded to join the Army for five years. Went back to school on my GI Bill and finished my Biology degree and did an extra year and got a Biophysics degree. Studied hardcore for the GMAT and scored a 770. My transfer GPA was a 3.3 but if I held a 4.0 my Senior year. If you're a fuckup you can still get into high level institutions if you play your cards right and better yourself.
They did an interview and I believe having charisma helps a lot in admissions. More so than IQ. IQ is not as important as admissions test scores. They don't even know your IQ when you apply. Why HBS? was a minor part. I didn't say much other than my standards fitting the recommended standards of their school. Very blunt. Most of the essay was about my business goals, where I see myself in a few years, and what I've done so far (drafting, poster conventions, status towards a functional product, etc). I did mention dropping out and coming back to school to maintain a 4.0 (to lessen doubts of academic capability and drive for having a transfer GPA of 3.3). I did milk my veteran status as being an "established leader" and my combat deployment as leading under hostile conditions. Don't forget who your audience is. Besides school the Army is really the only other thing I've done with my life. I also had my LoR done by military friend, the other a professor I did research with, but that LoR was probably weak. I just didn't want two Army LoR. Oh and add a short passage about family and such, they're suckers for a family man.

Its a cool major, basically you do most of the hard math and science of a mech e, ie statics calc iii, etc, but you also take marketing and several "technological entrepreneurship" classes where you come up with an idea and basically make a business for it, including a full bushiness plan. The theme this year is IoT and theres a cash prize for the winner. Ive also taken marketing, public speaking, and other business courses
Basically theyre training us to be the bosses of engineers that engineers wont be able to bamboozle with trickery, and management wont be able to jew over.

>work in engineering dept. of a major city with 500,000+ residents
>management consist entirely of PE's
>upper management must have masters in engineering, business, or public administration - most of have multiple
>director isn't at work 90% of the time, kinda comes and go and he pleases, golfs a lot, ridiculous 700 sq.ft office
>most of management dicks around all day
>look at staff like overgrown orangutans
>must go through proper channels before approaching them

ah so this is what it means to be educated irl

Question:
Conflicted between ee and physics undergrad - fortunately my state uni is pretty decent in both. Prefferably I would like to get a graduate degree and then go into industry. I feel like going physics would open more doors, allowing me to get a doc, or get a grad degree in any engineering discipline. Ee, however, is a lot more marketable out of undergrad and I would feel more confident when job hunting. I hope further down the line I could do systems engineering and management but I feel like this option would dissapear if I go physics. Thoughts? Anyone else gone down either of these paths?

I believe either would get what you seek. You could always get a physics minor. I would say dual major but engineering takes up so many credits you'd almost have to do five years. EE and Physics usually go hand in hand for industry along with ME and CS.

Some dude told me the exact same thing, when I posted in a thread I was doing CS.
He said: "Switch to engineering, CS is a meme, everything is getting outsourced, engineers are in demand blah, blah".
And I'm like no I like computers.

Well I just changed because I was told CS was easy and anyone could do it while EE was the hardest major after math and physics. I suppose it is harder than CS tho but circuits are fucking boring and while the math behind signals is cool the applications of it are really dull which EE is all about.

I am a cs major. Cs is a meme. A person with a major in ee or math could easily plough thru cs theory. Most cs people ofc work as software developers and one of the only subjects that you take that is perninent to that is data structures and algorithms. A&ds is easy as shit. At least with an ee degree you have a back up.
