Perhaps the universe started at different points and the reason that we see the universe expanding is because we are within but one section of a series of sections which expanded to make the universe.

Perhaps the universe isent expanding but our section of the universe is expanding whilst other sections are shrinking.

Perhaps we are all living inside a giant fish

No... it's turtles all the way down.

Our spacetime horizon is not the final spacetime horizon. A galaxy that started on the other side of the universe at the big bang is going away from us, as are we from it.

There are parts of the universe who's light can't even reach us yet. It is very likely that the universe keeps going on beyond what we can simply ever see.

Perhaps the universe stretches to infinity and our existence is just a series of reverberations in sound

Perhaps, who cares, let's focus of the fields of science that will show substantial progress in our lifetime. Like genetics. Did you hear they made a synthetic genome that has proven it can self replicate?

yes, we know that. We are still in the infancy. We have, however, just gone from a computer to a self replicating lifeform for the first time in history. Of course we stole how to do it. We still know very little. But now we have a minimalist lifeform to manipulate into many more marvelous creations without distractions from conflicting results. No more data corrupted by other genetic influcences, or hidden cellular functions that affect the results.

Now we can build from the bottom up.

This thread makes me smile because it leaves open the theoretical option that Steve Brule is exists for real in some other part of the universe.
