whenever this happens to me its because i forget something trivially easy but that isnt directly related to the subject matter (thanks autism)

like i forget, or rather, i dont think to use facts like, any odd number is the sum of an even and an odd when im doing a problem in graph theory.
just focus on building up your foundations, and then once you cant prove shit again build up your foundations more

You should at least think about it and try to come up with some idea of what to do. There's no shame in asking for help on a problem you've struggled with for a while. But if you're not motivated to try to figure it out yourself even (especially) when it's not immediately obvious to you what you need to do, then you should give up on math entirely.
