How come people are saying that CRISPR technology could change how gender reassignment is done?

One guy I found from a Google search said that it could turn testicles into ovaries and vice versa thus allowing for a trans person to produce hormones without having to be on medication for it. Is this true?

Not sure why there are many holding out hope for this kind of technology though. Most who are forgoing the bottom surgery in hopes that CRISPR technology could replace it with a better treatment.

Okay, so after some more Googling, it says that it could change a penis into ovaries and vice versa, though it cannot change chromosomes and/or produce sperm. This was apparently tested on a mouse who went from female to male.

They changed ovaries into testes, but not testes into ovaries. There may be a way to change it back but I'm skeptical on that front, if only because ovaries have some very weird pathways going on.
