Dennett's explanation isn't an explanation at all. It just hides the problem behind another layer of ambiguity. If conscious is an illusion, then who or what is experiencing the illusion?

What if consciousness and free will developed because our brain has limited processing capacity and has to choose what information to focus on and what to discard? It has to guide mental processes and has the ability to override commands from more primitive parts of the brain in order to increase long-term gainels over short-term ones.

>> No.10307541

>>10307513
Nah because even really simple creatures process and filter information.

Free will vs determinism is metaphysics ontological shit.

There was an argument that neuroscience suggests the brain determines an action before a person is conciousness of having made decision and that delay means people are just autonomous meat-robots blindly executing progran in reaction to exterminal stimuli, but those studies were pretty weak.

Its easy to say conciousness is an illusion. A hallucination can seem just as real as sober observation but it doesn't make it real. That doesn't mean free will doesn't exist.

But it eviedently turns out to work just as I perceive it. How come it's not real or an illusion when I perceive it with my senses and making me think and be who I am in an absolute existence in the universe. If ur to stupid yo see this then good lick anon. You are a subhuman which are so stupid you cannot fucking reason abviously so you. Yes you. Create an illusion from what's real that makes you illusional. Nobody else hopefully.

“Free will” reaults from actions that you carry out as a result of your brain undergoing some process that you have zero control over. Given that your consciousness is simply the space within which all of your sensory data as well as your thoughts arise, “free will” and consciousness are one and the same, by definition.

>> No.10310907

No, there is the transition between the two. and the recognition now that even 'true' chaotic systems have regions of order within them. And the spooky in the science is that these regions of order known as 'strange attractors' will be the same within un-related systems. And if these systems are brought into relationship, the strange attractors will already be resonating with each other. This resonance spreads throughout each system, bringing each into sympathetic resonance with the other and spreading order.

This might sound a little abstract, but is worth remembering when you are considering the behavior of interacting chaotic systems, as usually happens in conversations about consciousness.

If free will exists then why cant you make yourself happy when you are sad?

Why are you still a virgin?

Why cant you make your arms longer just by willing it?

If I had free will certainly my will would be free to do whatever I wanted, like conjuring things from thin air.

No, our wills are not free. They are bound by the physical laws of reality, time, and cause/effect.

We are meat robots.
