To answer the OP, let's put it this way: success breeds jealousy. CS is at the forefront of technology with exciting fields such as computer vision, data mining, and machine learning, etc. It's true you don't need a CS degree to enter these fields. A statistician can do ML research or a EE can work on computer vision but a CS degree will lead to all of them and will give a more in-depth understanding of these technologies among many other technologies and fields that are too numerous to name. No study is more interesting or useful than CS for the modern age. Again success breeds jealousy. See all the /sci/ fags seething and attempting to attack cs because they blame the study for their shitty life choices.
