Is it even worth getting a Paperwhite if I want to read stuff with math notation that was originally in PDF or DJVU format? If not, what tablet should I get?

IIRC pdfs actually loaded up correctly.
I'll recommend going to a store, or finding a friend who owns one, and testing it for a while. I personally don't notice, but a friend of mine told me it was much lighter on the eyes than a tablet.

If you wan't an E-reader for PDF's then you want 10" screens or above. A few companies even make 13.3" screen's which give a 1:1 size match with a4, However these devices are hideously expensive. 10" are also overly expensive, but less so. With 10" you're looking at brands like BOOX, ReMarkable, Sony DPT, and recently LikeBook. The most promising 10" is looking like the Likebook mimas, which is coming out later this month—it reads practically all file types, has removable storage with micro-SD's, Chinese so they don't give a damn about pirating/ebook DRM (though you can skirt DRM fairly easily anyway). But when you're getting into the price range that these devices are at, you have to consider whether it's better to just buy a tablet and read PDF's on that. E-ink devices have their perks, it really depends on what specifically you want the device for.

Buy a laser printer and lots of toner and few boxes of paper. You're going to want to write notes occasionally

Any tablet that has a 4:3 ratio is good. I used a galaxy tab s2 and loved it.

Honestly I'm a /lit/fag so I wasn't sure how graphs and such would turn out, so I downloaded a PDF on my 10" E-reader to show you what it looks like. I'll dump a few images. Is there anything in particular you want to test out?

Due to e-ink displays being monochrome, they can suffer when colour is involved
