Wasn't there a lot of noise a couple years ago with a bunch of startups claiming that they are a couple of years away from viable fusion? What happened to that?

Startups exaggerate things to get funding

>> No.10252754

It wasn't just some startup it was the Skunkworks devision of Lockheed Martin. Skunkwork is the most prominent R&D division of Lockheed Martin that did a lot of breakthrough research.

The truth is that the research is still going on and has a working prototype but things have been harder than expected and it's behind schedule so you hear nothing about it. You can look it up yourself.

Serious nuclear power will never happen until we have colonies beyond the asteroid belt that literally require it.

The political forces holding it back are too well funded and too entrenched for it to ever take off this century.

Fuck off you faggot. Do you even know how much profit could be made with fusion? It would make the global GDP look like some third world african nation compared to how rich these companies would be.

The company that makes the first Fusion powered system would be the first Quandrillion dollar company (1000 trillion). The annual revenue of this company would be more than 10 times the current global GDP.

It would allow transmutation of precious metals meaning you would control the entire metals market. It would allow for carbon capture making you solve global warming (for a price). It would allow you to desalinate salt water and sell it for a fraction of natural fresh water which means you could dominate both water and agricultural markets globally.

You could power superconductors because you have enough power to cool them close to 0 Kelvin which would allow computing trillions of times more efficient than now. Meaning you would control the entire computing industry and most likely also be the leading AI company on the globe

The company that invents fusion would rule the world. And the world would have so much more to offer with fusion. You can bet your ass that if powerful people had any shot at getting this they would sell their soul to be able to. A life without fusion doesn't compare to a life with fusion. It's like saying the people in power aren't going to allow industrial revolution to happen even though it would mean they would be far more rich, powerful and higher quality of lives. It makes no sense.

It doesn't matter how profitable it could be. The research will be shut down and these "profitable" reactors will never be built. Leftist special interest groups (ironically, funded by fossil fuel companies) have completely frozen nuclear power. It will never recover in our lifetimes.

>>10252806
Nuclear fission is different from nuclear Fusion. Nuclear fusion doesn't release ultraviolet radiation. In fact certain types of reactors make it absorb ultraviolet radiation since it's the opposite of fission.

The government that makes the first working fusion reactor immediately has a win condition for the planet. They would have enough energy to dominate in every single economical and military field and would take over society so every government has it in their best interest to be the first to pioneer this. Every company would immediately be the richest company on the planet and be global monopoly like in cyberpunk movies.

Everyone and their mum is trying for Fusion. There is a reason almost 100 billion dollars a year gets thrown into it globally for the last 50 years already.

With this negative energy mode, they probably figured out how to splice the laser beams, like in Ghostbusters, to get a free energy beam to come out. Since I solved electrogravity in 2013

Fission is more practical. Fuel can be created in the reactor without having to swap out components every two weeks due to them being ruined by neutrons. It would be cheaper to develop and faster to implement than fusion.

Doesn't matter though since neither of them will happen anyways.

>Fission is more practical.
You point the resonant beam into a boiling lead pump system that spins a massive disc from which extracts the work for electrogravity by electromagnetic induction. Massive spinning discs are already used to store electrical potential energy as mechanical energy, and you could also dump this free electrical energy into the laser beam death ray mounted on the free energy electrogravity UFO. Circular UFOs would be good for housing large spinning discs. But with death rays.

The R&D needs to pay itself back and it'll be very expensive to run but the amount of power 1 power plant releases will be high enough to do some things that are currently impossible such as profitable transmutation, superconductor cooling, large scale desalination, large scale carbon capture etc.

Also build one into a spaceship and space suddenly gets a lot more hospitable.

That reactor is specifically designed to be completely fucking worthless and embezzle money
it was fucking outdated before they started laying concrete, and they don't; intend to turn the fucking thing on until 2035, a date that they'll probably postpone further than they already have to 2050+
and once it finally turns on, it will not generate any power, it will literally be a giant fuck off paperweight for "science", as if one magically cannot do science with a reactor that produces energy as well
