Remind that there is no point of going into science and math when people like this exist. If you don't have brainchad tier child prodigy talent, you'll never stand a chance. No matter how hard you try, these people will outsmart you and outcompete you at every move and you'll always be a subhuman compared to them. You'll just end up as a wagecuck in debt with a useless mediocre degree and never amount to anything.

>top dog
Anyone can be the top dog, if you're willing to pay the price. You know all those stories about people selling their soul to the devil? It's just an allegory of how someone can pay a large price in order to reach fame/recognition/whatever. Newton was an asshole weirdo that died a virgin. Von Veumann was an asshole that kept talking about wanting to nuke all commies, and he ate himself to death - his wife said that he could count everything except calories. Turin was a gay guy that got himself chemically sterilized. Galois was rash and stupid, and got himself killed when he was 20 years old, when he dueled with a friend over a girl.

Personally I'd much rather live a normal life, and investigate math/science shit as much as I can, but within the confines of humanity, instead of sacrificing it for some higher purpose. Like for what purpose? Like anyone is ever going to be grateful for it. They'll just look on, say cool, and move on with their normal lives.

You failed to realize your contradiction. Those people studied as much as they wanted to. They all lived "normal" lives from their respective perspectives. No one sacrificed anything because in order to do so implies that there's something else they would have rather done that was worth sacrificing. There wasn't. Studying was all they wanted to do and that was why they were successful, not because they didn't need to compete with a child prodigy. The fact that the presence of a kid smarter than you discourages you from studying means you were never in it for its own sake but merely for vanity and recognition.

You won't be #1 but there is an infinite amount of research work to be done and the vast majority of scientific questions do not require the investigator to be particularly smart.

It hard enough to come by such people because so many people who get science degrees have either no real research motivation or an awful attitude like the one suggested by your post.

Frankly many of the most successful people in science are just hard working and amicable. The world's most-cited physicist is like this for example.

We have a guy who was like this at our college. He got his bachelours in math at like 14. I think he did grad school after, but he was also a music genius, and someone ended up convincing him to be a concert musician. Granted, this guy is gifted, but I really do think prodigy status has a lot to do with circumstance. I asked him about how he ended up in university at such a young age and he told me this story about how his parents moved around and he ended up just not being able to properly fit into the different highschool systems, so someone gave him a textbook and he just kept studying, then his dad suggested he take uni classes. It seems like the people who end up in this position are always there because they're smart AND somehow they found themselves in circumstances where they didn't go through the normie schooling procedure. I suspect that most people with an IQ above 125 or so could be doing university-level maths at age 12-13 or so if they just didn't end up being forced through the social nightmare of highschool and were lucky enough to have someone show them a couple textbooks in a non-judgemental sort of way. Imagine yourself as a kid, growing up in a household with some books and decently smart people around, and not going to highschool, not "hanging out" with your friends, not getting jealous of other stupid kids who have big TVs and vidya and snack packs and shit. I guaruntee you that if you forced any of these prodigies through a normie school experience, they'd end up just as dumb as the rest of us. I remember being a kid fairly well, and I don't think I'm any smarter than I was back then. When I was a kid, I could always understand everything that was presented to me pretty much right away. I figure if they'd just kept presenting stuff to me, the learning would have just kept going.

Ask the kid about the circumstances that led to his interest in math, and how he got out of being forced to go to normie school.

>> No.10228551

>>10228536
There's certainly truth to what you're saying although I don't think 99.9 percent of kids go through school normally because their parents didn't pressure them to succeed. If we're going to specify a 125 IQ threshold, there's probably also some innate ability to concentrate for long periods of time that we're overlooking. This is why I don't put much stock in IQ although I admit all I'm doing is substituting it with another apparently innate ability.

ability to concentrate for long periods of time is clearly not innate. It's obvious that attention span is a heavily environmentally-influenced feature. Haven't you noticed the vast difference between your attention span after exam season and your attention span after shitposting for a week on vacation? IQ is like hair/height genetics, attention span is like muscles-there's a genetic parameter, but the ultimate result is highly sensitive to environmental factors/decisions.

I really think prodigies are just people with a threshold IQ who happen to be lucky enough to grow up with parents who provide the right combination of encouragement and freedom and who find themselves in a loophole that lets them out of the normie school system

this is not true.
Hyper controlled kids don't usually stand out. Also, the types of parents who hyper-control their kids tend to care only about achievement as measured by the school system, and prodigies usually manage to find a way out of the schoo system. Prodigies are kids that surpass the restrictions of the school system because they end up in circumstances that put them into a context that actually fosters learning.

the difference between the dumbest and the smartest human being on the planet is practically negligible and while some of these very smart people waste their life trying to invent stuff there is only one invention that trumps them all and that is AI. Thousands of years of research the smartest humans could do will be done in seconds in the near future so the difference between you and them is unimportant if their focus is wrong.

So if you focus on building AI and concentrate on the things you are good at you can contribute much more to humanity than them. Sure you need people to do the ground work doesnt mean someone with an IQ of only 120-140 cant participate at a different level and maybe even outperform people that are too smart for their own good. Because being smart alone doesnt mean you are creative by nature or even a hard worker. And some problems are solved in different ways...

That's maybe if you look at it from a perspective of an omniscient being who's intelligence is way above ours. If IQ of such being is like 10000 then sure, difference between 90 and 160 doesn't matter that much for him - we all are grug-tier retarded for him. But from perspective of a mortal human being the difference between a genius scientist and a Joe Schmo is immense. The latter can't even grasp the abstract concepts to understand the complexity of our universe and the scientific interpretation of it. Thus he won't be able to get even close to building AI. Sure, you can teach everyone algebra/basic math, but without scientific revolutions and breakthroughs it would take you tens of thousands of years to get close to even build first computer, let alone AI. And said breakthroughs are almost always achieved by extra-high IQ individuals, not by ordinary people.

Mathematicians who actually make meaningful contributions don't do it because they want people to be grateful for it. They do it because they are just insanely gifted, kind of enjoy doing their job, and sort of just do it. Certainly as humans, they do like money and recognition, but these arent the primary motivation for doing mathematical research.

I don't think fantasy and masturbation is harmful in and of itself. I'm pretty sure it's uninhibited indulgence that's harmful, as with pretty much all things.

I can relate to this story.
I was put through tests too and surpassed the classes on all the material (except French. my autistic ass just can't learn French for some reason). I was bored in highschool so I fucked off and did delinquent shit, and ended up getting arrested and going to juvie. Didn't learn shit in school for the last two years & graduated from the juvie highschool :- ( I had fun in juvie though. Read a lot of textbooks on my own and learned to sketch really well. I wish I had studied more math though.

Your brain must be getting flooded with a drug(produced elsewhere in your body) of somekind when you look at that ass, it could be instinctual reflex or maybe not, you could probably undergo psychological training to associate ass with something negative (what is it called when they trained dogs salivate to the sound of a bell), then the release should not trigger and you should be able to keep concentrated
