Hey sci, for those suffering with this condition , what has helped you ?

Have any of you figured out how to “cure” it or at least greatly reduce symptoms ?

Wash your face with head & shoulders shampoo, I do this at the first sign of any symptoms and they're gone within a day

>> No.10225448

what worked for me was exercise everyday + special shampoo

Got it.
Tried special shampoos, no effect.
Tried diets. Eating raw vegan low-fat was the only one that significantly reduced the effects, but I also lost a lot of weight at that time so it might've not been healthy.
It just kind of went by itself. Nowadays, I only get symptoms every 3-4 days if I'm not washing my hair/face. I think it's manageable like this, I just wash my hair every 3rd day and I don't look like a scaly dinosaur.

UV Light. Wear Eye protection. Use a tanning or cosmetic thing. DO NOT USE A UVC sanitation light.
You can buy a tanning bed on craigslist with bulbs for $300 or less.

You'll thank me later.

>inb4 muh skin cancer
UV induced skin cancer is contingent on actual sunburn. Tanned skin is not burnt skin. That is the increase of pigmentation, ie melanogenesis. You just need 5 minutes every few days. You keep it to that, you'll barely even tan.

Pop-sci myth perpetuated by the sun-screen industry.
The actual cause of accelerated damage is concomitant use of photosensitive foods/drugs which accelerate the process. Also, the studies that examine the so-called UV 'photoaging' fail to isolate for alcohol and unhealthy lifestyle habits, which can cause the buildup of lipofuscin and highly damage skin quality. Moreover, they always find the worst examples of women who take it to an excess, who again are predisposed to living hedonistic lifestyles filled with drink, and frequently medicate (even NSAIDs can cause a reaction in the light!).
I for one, am going to continue to go outside with moderate sun exposure and, in winter months, continue to use a UVA/UVB medical device for vitamin D. I've seen old individuals who kept out in the sun, and they look infinitely better than their sun-deprived counter-parts who slathered on sun-screen all their lives. UV light produces vitamin D, lowers cholesterol, increases testosterone, destroys flora that gives rise to acne and confers a youthful look of health.

For what claim? Photosensitivity is a well known phenomenon and repeated insults absolutely affect skin quality.

The rest is a critique of the studies, which argues against studies that "prove it" by highlighting errors in their methodology. You are incapable of entertaining this and need some authority to definitively say this.

As for the sunscreen industry, they lobbied heavily against regulation, despite rightfully being a drug, which is able to bypass the skin and work its way internally. There is no FDA approval or testing procedure. It has come to light that some of the compounds within it. They are very dishonest and pay to be on TV programs where they give the air of authority that if you don't have their product, you'll surely die. This is false, deceptive, and dishonest.
They fund dermatologists too, as spokespersons much like the snake oil salesman doctors of around the turn of the 20th century.

Some ingredients are absorbed transdermally and are neurotoxic
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28959646

Other "healthier" sunscreens contain zinc nano particles which themselves are toxic.

Selenium Sulfide shampoo (2% concentration is ideal if you can find it).
Medication based on this: https://www.drugs.com/ingredient/itraconazole.html
Currently taking 2 pills every 2 weeks but you should obviously talk to a doctor about dosage etc.
Daily maintenance with seborrheic dermatitis products. I use this https://www.ivatherm.com/ranges/ivadermaseb/ivadermaseb-cleasing-gel-anti-redness-and-anti-squams-200ml/ twice a day and this https://www.ivatherm.com/ranges/ivadermaseb/ivadermaseb-anti-redness-and-anti-squams-cream-40ml/ once a day. You can search for the active ingredients.

Doctor keeps reducing dosage for the second medication every couple of months trying to lessen dependence on it. The shampoo and the face products are long term maintenance (read, rest of your life long).

Been on the treatment for about half a year and it's worked wonders, skin only gets a little dry in the morning but no other symptoms. I suspect the face cream and cleanser are just something that my doctor shills and there might be other alternatives, but since it works I'm counting my blessings and leaving it at that. Also if you have that flaky shit in your beard, shave it. Makes it easier.
Good luck anon.

A mug of green tea a day.
I used to drink it, didn't have rash for a while, then stopped, then the rash reappeared. I didn't make the connection at first because I changed other things as well, but I looked it up and some site said something about it.

Give it a try. If it still doesn't get better with two weeks (less than a box of tea), then it doesn't work for you.

Do you drink coffee? I'm not memeing, people with various skin conditions like rosacea, eczema, seb derm, atopic dermatitis, etc. say quitting coffee helped them immensely. Look into repairing the skin barrier with lotions too.
