Did anyone really say this? It could certainly be difficult if its your first upper level math course requiring "mathematical maturity", but assuming you've taken a few 300-400 level courses, I dont see why that would be difficult, especially if youve had a lower level computation based linear algebra course for physical/social/comp sci. linear algebra and group theory are especially intuitive, much more so imo than number theory, set theory, or most other upper level undergrad math courses.
