Making a quantum field theory with negative masses has tons of issues. For one, you won't have a ground state. I imagine infinite cross sections will also be an issue, because you can create arbitrarily high numbers of particles, each with arbitrarily high energy, in any interaction, while still respecting energy and momentum conservation. You just need positive mass particles with positive energy to cancel the negative energy from negative mass particles to keep the balance. Energy positivity keeps these sorts of cascades from happening in sane models.

So I'm skeptical that this sort of model can be implemented sanely in a quantum field theory.
