I understand that the cayley-hamilton theorem says that a square complex matrix satisfies its characteristic polynomial. And I understand why it works and its a neat result. But outside of Putzer's algorithm, where the hell is it used in application? It's an interesting result and I'm dying to know what/who uses it. Maybe it gets lost in bigger applications because its "trivial" but I'd like to know where it pops up. Google searches haven't been too prosperous so I am interested in what /sci/ thinks.
