imagine one of the world's most impressive football players can't get a football job because there's just too many players at the moment (or professional mountain climber, motocross stuntmen) and has applied to your company for a job counting the letters in words. The job is just to get a page of text and write down in a spreadsheet the number of letters on each line. The problem is it takes about one year to get used to the very bad interface of the specific spreadsheet program the company hires. Would you hire the football player/stuntman/climber? or try to get someone that's not one of these guys

The problem occurs when PhDs try to settle for shit jobs. A science PhD is quite valuable in an R and D department, and there are jobs available if your are willing to move and search for a year or so.

Why these dumbass PhDs have so little self worth is beyond me. Why would you apply to a job that doesn't require a PhD in the first place?

Industry or academia, the PhD (in science/mathematics) sets you onto the research track. That either means pure research or R&D. There are ample opportunities on both sides of the coin. If you don’t want to do research at all, you done fucked up. The only options left are basically being a quant or codemonkeying in the financial sector.

The reality is that the bar is so low for PhDs right now that most people with them are not capable of doing meaningful research. If this is you, there are two cases:
1)You are a woman: Then you are all good and will be sent straight to management, which means you won’t have to do science ever again, but will get paid more than the scientists, and you will be the one taking the photos with the results for the media
2) You are man, which means you end up like OP trying to get whatever the fuck.

Seriously though, just apply to lots of consulting Jobs until you get an offer you like. They pay well into the six figures starting, and consulting firms like you because they can call you an expert in whatever to your clients. The only downside is potentially long work hours and travel.

PhDs need to know their worth. You have credibility just because you have "Dr" in front of your name, learn how to use it.

your saying its a monkey job so mentioning the type of person you would hire would have to concern attributes not qualifications in reality but also in reality seeing as you are extremely overqualified for the sake of argument, they are probably seeing salary as a liability and in reality it could also cause an issue in the economy if they started giving entry level jobs best suited for novices to expert professionals even if both seek experience, yes its all bullshit, its sad they couldnt give you a placement after school, if i was a school administarot i would fight day and night to develop some kind of program insurance for people who compelete programs to that degree to find some kind of employment, i think they deserve security being as that its not in like culinary arts or something but what you are experiencing is the nature of job hunting today, at least you are go beyond criteria most people dont even satisfy criteria

The problem is that jobs that require PhDs are even MORE sought after, plus literally anyone with actual work experience in the field is more valuable than a PhD.
Why should a company hire you and train/develop you when you'll just leave for another company in a couple years, when instead they could just hire someone away from another company and let that other company sink money into training you and giving you experience?

When people talk about a shortage of jobs for PhDs, they mostly mean academic jobs, which is true. But there are countless research positions in industry, and a PhD basically allows you to sell yourself as an expert in your field, which is important for many jobs not directly related to research. There really isn't a meaningful number of unemployed stem PhDs out there.

That's actually a retarded thing to say. Most employers (unless it's a specific research position) won't understand or care about your specific project, just tell them you have a PhD in Biochemistry or whatever. PhDs obviously have a shit ton of other skills needed to work on their projects in the first place.
