36:45 Elon starts talking about supersonic electric jet

Will aerospace companies be BTFO once Musky unleashes this beast into the world?

If it isn't hydrogen powered then it's a waste.

That's internal combustion. Get that shit off my face.

>> No.10115021

No, he's just a walking "combine two words into something that sounds cool" generator.

vacuum + underground train
high speed + tunnel drilling
mars + colonization rocket
electric + supersonic jet

It all falls apart once you (or he) start thinking about how it's actually supposed to work.

That worked out rather well, and the electric cars aren't bad either, but the point is you gotta take his ramblings and fantastical announcements with a pile of salt.

Theres a reason we dont have commercial supersonic airplanes, transitiong from subsonic to supersonic means a big waste in energy and sonic booms are annoyingly loud for it to be something the public to accept.

A fuel cell isn‘t combustion.

>> No.10115169

>>10115143
Fuel cells are a good concept but all the storage, cooling and compression just for the hydrogen is really fucking bulky and heavy, until that improves I can't see it being viable outside of perhaps large ships that have the space and weight capacity for it. Storing Hydrogen is just a massive pain in the ass, if it improves, fucking sweet but until then, yeah nah.

Do you retards not understand this PR spiel? He comes up with a shot-to-the-moon project every other month. He is not serious. It is just to attract PR. Everyone thinks he is some kind of 300 IQ super genius now.

If it proves to be scalable and economical, sure. Otherwise it won't be anything more than a meme project.

But not the energy of the factories where the parts they assemble are produced, nor the fuel that's used to ship them among a million other small emissions that add up in the end.

Lithium mining is the worst and most destructive mining there is.
The batteries also need replacing after about 10 years and are highly toxic

Yeah, he'll never build a giant electric car producing factory or land rockets or make solar tiles. It's all meme bullshit. He's not even a real person, he's like Aunt Jemima or the insurance General.

Lithium batteries are almost 100% recyclable you fucking moron and they will last longer than 10 years with proper temperature management (which they have).

>> No.10115997

>>10115967
Lithium costs more to recycle than it does to produce but I never made the claim that it wasn't recyclable anyway, so keep your name calling out of it, you douche bag neck bearded faggot virgin.

Lithium mining has a high environmental impact and I'm willing to bet money that you've thrown lithium batteries in the rubbish
