People often ask "how can the earth be flat if there is 24 hours of sunlight in Antarctica?"

The important word here is "sunlight", not "day light". You can see the sun for 24 hours low on the horizon due to Antarctica being the highest elevated "continent" in the known world. This, coupled with the extremely clear, cold crisp air lacking in pollution means the sun's light can travel much further, the air is also much less dense due to the high elevation.
