Hi /sci/. I'm feeling a little worried about becoming a physicist. I'm starting to think I'm too stupid to do it. I got 90 on my official IQ test. I still can't tie a knot. I've been trying to memorize my times tables but I seem to be having trouble. I'm 18 and I can't seem to figure basic stuff out. I've been trying to use Kahn Academy but I can't get past multiplication. Should I just give up? Try something else entirely?

I seriously don't get how someone like you even considers physics as a career. You have an NPC IQ, and I thought NPCs did not have higher aspirations, they just got into safe low intelligence careers like accounting or computer science so that they can be an NPC at someone's corporations, and they can do NPC things that make them happy.

Can you explain to me what is the motivation an NPC could have for being a physicist? It just makes no sense and I fear that the current understanding science has of NPCs may be flawed.

A person who can't fucking do basic arithmetic shouldn't be able to write the way you do. I haven't really looked too much into this, but I've heard some people claiming to have dyscalculia, which is like dyslexia but for math. If you can create descent paragraphs, but can't multiply then it looks like you have a disorder on your hands.

fMRI can supposedly distinguish normal kids from ones with dyscalculia based on pre-frontal cortex activity. That said, I think the disorder is basically defined by having really unreasonably bad math ability, so your question is kinda moot.

Yeah, it is a real thing dude.
Just search it and get yourself tested, math can be a bitch with it but you can probably overcome it somehow. I don't know, not an expert on it.
