Its pretty sad people need to be informed this stuff.

How do I make CS more profitable/financially driven?

Reason: I want to play the game well, i.e. make big cash for future.

I plan on taking a CS course in university (interested in computers) but I don't exactly want to be a low wage code monkey my whole life. Anything specific I should minor in? Is there a field that I should be focusing on like data technology? Any advice would be kind.

>> No.10036715

>>10036674
Well, you probably already know the way to not be a wagecuck, either get lucky and use your wage to invest super early on something, start a business that solves people's problems (even though you may work like a wagecuck for the first years) or be an entertainer of some sort. I would say to get a job that is somewhat interesting and do the rest on the side, if your side stuff starts taking off focus on that

Not him (or in CS for that matter), but TCP protocol is complicated because of the multitude of design considerations. Internet is a best effort network, so there was a lot of work that went into making a robust set of protocols that actually work.

nowadays we assume a lot of things to be true that people who wrote papers on merge sort had to rigorously prove.
one example is the optimal substructure property that we take for granted today.
with the advantage of hindsight, we think a lot of things to be trivial.
As another example, we might think that it would be trivial to come up with quicksort as well, but the original partition scheme devised by Hoare actually had a bias that would destroy the proof of the expected O(lg n) time complexity on randomized lists. This is why nowadays we don't learn quicksort with Hoare's original partitioning technique first
