/sci/, I was wondering if you could help me out...

I'm doing mechanics papers and using the formula to calculate impulse, I = mv - mu, but I always end up with the answer as negative when the mark schemes say it's positive and as far as I can tell, they get that by using the formula as I = mu - mv, which is wrong?

have you set the positive direction correctly? I always set it as positive when j is going against gravity but lots of people reverse that. As long as you make it evident that you have set positive a certain way and explain why your answer is negative rather than positive you should still get the marks (: good luck btw. Mechs is a killer
