X = [ Find the first derivative of f(x) = 3x^4 - 4x^3 + x^2 + x + 5 when x = 1 ]

Do this math problem and I’ll help you with three simple tips I learned.

>memorizing periodic table
This is why I can't consider chem or biology seriously when the classes are just rote memorization.

I had to memorize it once for a course of coordination chemistry. Horrible autistic professor, making one mistake on the table, even a mispronounciation he'd fail you but it was essentially a free pass if you did memorize it. Just run through this table and use mnemnonics for the lanthanides and actanides.

Make it a song
When you’ve learned it, stop singing it and just go through it normally
Worked for me

I'm not from America so I can't relate, did 2 different first year undergrad chem classes, one while finishing grade 12 and one as part of an engineering degree. Not once did I even memorise the first line of the periodic table, and my grades were on point.

Don’t.
In literally any context you should be provided with enough information to solve a problem if you understand the structure of the period table rather than memorizing individual elements.

Learn the actual chemistry of the elements by groups, periodic trends and maybe some diagonal relations.
