Are races different species? Since the different races can produces fertile children they have been categorized as being in the same species however Neanderthals and humans are different species and could interbreed and produce fertile children. What is up with this and what is the difference between different races and different species?

>> No.9253252

neanderthals were a subspecies, not a completely separate one.

nah, all "races" fall under the subspecies "homo sapiens sapiens". Neanderthals' species status is in dispute. They're either considered to be another subspecies "homo sapiens neanderthalensis" or a separate species "homo neanderthalensis".

The problem with taxonomy in general is that dividing organisms into groups becomes quite subjective and random when there isn't significant differences, outwardly and genetically. Often is the case that an organism doesn't fit very snugly into our classification system.

Species as a whole are a social construct, but any definition of subspecies I've seen would have to classify races as being different ones

The only real reason anyone thinks blacks are people is because of interbreeding but wait a second NEANDERTHALS AND ERECTUS could breed with us so does that means they are human too hurr durr!!!!!!!!

The unique truth about races is that Amerindians are superior to europeans.
