Why is the website like this? Why does everyone want to make claims of an astrophysicist without bothering to study to become one? Why do they want me to take their words seriously they haven't proven themselves to be a serious person? What do they expect me to do? Stop being such a fucking autist. Somebody somewhere is always being wrong on the internet. You can't stop them and your well reasoned arguments aren't as compelling as their schizo ranting in the eyes of the midwit audience.

Web 2.0 was a mistake. It's entire design is to support retarded ideas becoming viral and spreading and people to stay attached to their devices reading more and more nonsense.
There's no point in fighting a crusade against it. Big Tech won. Most of the population will continue being uneducated and retarded and more and more of them will lose all touch with reality as they succumb to schizo narratives formed in their digital enclaves.
Best thing is to ignore this shit. It's a waste of time and energy otherwise.

Sadly the internet is filled with dimwits, actual retards (sub 70 iq) teenage know-it-alls, schizos and of course trolls. The smaller a community is the easier it is to filter. Which is why I think mods should actually ban threads that belong on /lit/, /his/, /x/ or /pol/.

>Why is the website like this?
The internet is like this. 90% of the content you see online is generated by people who have too much time on their hands who aren’t in any economic demand. 4chan and its social media equivalents (e.g. Reddit and to a lesser extent Twitter) are especially popular among NEETs, pensioners, students, and (you won’t believe this, but it’s true) married women. People who are worth talking to are usually doing cooler things than shitposting on /sci/.

>> No.12661892

>>12661888
Also, the difficulty of getting online once served as a barrier to lower value users (because they were too stupid and / or lazy to get access). Accessibility has changed all that. Reddit, for all its flaws, had an arcane UI that kept the idiots out. Once they normified it, the nurses found it, and that was when it became a hotbed of hysterical women who primarily post about Trump, loving abortion, and reality TV.

The reasons for the tardfuckery on /sci/ has already been given by other posters here.

That notwithstanding, /sci/ still attracts just enough genuine scientific thinkers to make sufficiently relevant posts. Perhaps 10%. In addition there is the unqualified humor which perhaps account for another 10%. Then very rarely, probably less than 1%, there are very insightful posts and lines of thought, some of which are very left field but rational, which makes trawling through the sludge somewhat worthwhile.
Finally there is the aspect of appreciating the the rest of the fuckwit posts for what they are. This can be diverse. Just being entertained by the antics of monkeys. Feeling blessed by not being one of them. Being constantly reminded that the fuckwits make up a significant portion of society ( maybe even the majority ). The last aspect can be of significant social, financial and relationship value to the unbiased observer.

Yes. "Peer" meaning other people who study the field. Not a third grader.
>if everyone stayed only in their field of expertise then nothing would change and only seniors would have a say.
This is only true is their limitations are too strict and if only a select group could get degrees in this field. There is nothing stopping you from graduating with a degree in astrophysicist outside cost.
>If you can't handle public questioning you should probably just a make a cult where your secret will safe from questioning.
But the public is generally stupid. There's no point in trying to explain Calc II to someone who is still trying to grasp Algebra II
>Honestly, it a game of charisma when it comes to public speaking.
No. That just invites stupidity and oversimplifying to overshadow things people don't understand.
