Dopamine is crucial to learning. It influences if we even remember information, what we care about, and how we focus. It also has effects on our ability to learn itself. The dopamine reward system is currently NOT correctly utilized for formation of working humans.

Our education system should be built on the basis of reward systems. Yet we create a massive delayed-reward system and the highest dopamine spike of the school system is when you are let out of class or stop learning.

We have a completely fucked up system. Yet we can see designed systems with addictive dopamine reward systems in video games, social networks, etc that could be easily applied to education systems.

We have a foolish notion of reward, regularizing the reward so it becomes predictable, and how this improves learning monumentally.

In addition parents seem to not understand how reward impulses should properly be given to maximize good motivations and to literally program the brain of the child properly.

This is imperative that the experts who designed social media dopamine rewards, video game dopamine rewards, and other dopamine systems begin applying these immediate reward systems to education. We must incorporate as much immediate dopamine reward into these systems as possible. Meaning actual immediate rewards of resources or pleasure for top form behavior or improvement in an ongoing and regularized way across the system. Creating such a system will create a massive positive feedback loop getting even less well-programmed brains to get on the program.

1. Regularity of Reward: Extremely important is consistency. Expecting a reward and not receiving it is extremely bad for the brain programming system.

- "You are expected to do ____ good so no reward" : From what we know from Reinforcement learning this is literally destroying their motivational system in the brain.

Basically if we create reward systems, the expected reward for the effort is CRUCIAL to the system working. Meaning any reward system in an educational system must be extremely consistent and rewarding for proper behavior. This will create the best possible incentive inside the brain.

2. We need to get rid of the myth of "Reasoning". The reward system is what controls behavior and motivates learning. By not properly optimizing for reward systems, aka trying to consistently reward the student with dopamine hits, we are not using the most important learning system in the brain.

Literally, just incorporating the basics of reinforcement learning and what we know about reward systems would massively improve education systems overnight to an insane degree.

Spreading this knowledge to parents. AKA basic knowledge of reinforcement learning, expectation vs reward, would MASSIVELY improve how parents program their children via reward systems to behave better.

2nd paragraph: completely derailed, giving a reward for achieving a certain goal has nothing to do with learning, I can copy on all tests and get the reward anyway and learn nothing.

My take on it is that the optimal way of doing it is showing students how rational thinking and eagerness to learn can improve their lives, that's just something very complicated to do and not exactly clear that is the optimal path

My question is can you really expect reward to improve performance of underperformers?
And is there a linear relationship between reward and behaviour? : For instance, Im sure children are flexible enough to become disinterested in certain types of reward when they're over the age of lets say - 6 years old. What about other emotions like alienation or anger or self-esteem.
Also, what does this do to self-motivated learning?
Shouldn't we teach children to socially integrate and look at learning as something to be valued in itself?
