scientifically speaking, why are people in the year 2018 still believing in religion? Is it true that it activates the same parts of the brain that are stimulated when doing drugs?

>> No.9934235

The same reason that they believe in the state.

I hear all the time on this board how science does not address metaphysical questions. Yet that does not make those questions go away. Something needs to fill that void, and something always will.

You can't just tack "scientifically speaking" onto any question. This is nonsense, this is outside of any fruitful application of the scientific method.

It's not just that. I think everyone at least wonders how it's possible for the universe to even be here. Most people are not just afraid that they themselves will die, but also that life on Earth will be disrupted or ended by some cataclysm. So some have "faith" that despite all odds somehow we'll make it. This is the root of all religious feeling and why religion is so weridly ubiquitous.

That idea only exists because of religion in the first place though.

That's a myth. Birth rates only directly correlate with the development level of a country, not with religion.

notice how the most religious countries are all undeveloped third world shitholes.
>don't call them shitholes!!!! those are respectable countries!!!!
I live in one so I know what I'm talking about. Nothing is to respect in a country where its people are mentally retarded.

Do you have any actual statistics to back this up that you didn't pull out of your ass?

You overestimate the average person. Most of them don't think beyond their close family and friends let alone the fate of humanity and the universe.
