they don't report the exact same experience, although they do report similar experiences

i would imagine it's the same reason we can use things like SSRIs or antipsychotics or any other psychoactive drug with similar results in many people. the fine-grained wiring that results in memory and personality is different from person to person, but the broad-scale structure is remarkably similar. whatever effects a drug might have on turning some pathways on or off, it's probably going to have a very similar effect on someone else

Hallucinogenic experiences are typically much more variated. People do NOT report the same archetypal story from their experiences with psilocybin, LSD, THC, or sensory deprivation. Not with any consistency anyway. Peoples subjective experiences with DMT are all a very specific type of hallucination, with very similar characters, themes, locations and meanings. And it's been used to illicit these types of hallucinations in people for thousands of years now.

Very clearly there's something interesting going on here on at least a neurological level to say nothing of psychology, sociology, theology, metaphysics etc.

i took lsd like 4 months ago and it triggered a mental breakdown and SEVERAL panic attacks during the trip. after the trip ended, for the first MONTH i was literally paralysed with fear and anxiety, wouldnt be able to get a lick of sleep for 4 nights straight, thought i was going insane. Fast forward to now and things are definitely getting better but holy fuck, this shit has literally taken away half a year of my life and fuck knows what else mentally. Definitely helped me feel better that this phenomenon is actually a thing several other people have experienced or going through, pic related if anyone is interested.

Have you considered looking into those concepts more deeply? I mean there are entire communities exploring those lines of thoughts in a way that is more grounded and less destructive. That is why people link psychedelics with spirituality because it can destroy every concept you have and then what is left of reality? It is interesting topic if you exlude the suffering it can make you go through.

If you are interested why did you feel the way you felt when LSD messed with your mind look at this video that is exploring the notion of no reality. It's kinda new agey but it might give you some insights about what you went through.

Yes m8. I've seen symbols, grand hallways, entities, faces, dancing tribesmen (themed based on the type of music I was listening to, sometimes African, sometimes Asian, sometimes Middle-Eastern, sometimes sciencefiction). It's just hallucination. It's significant, and worth investigating, but there is no reason whatsoever that this inner world is connected to a global unconciousness. Perennialists are wrong. Sure, our consciousness has pieces from our ancestors, because we are culturalised into adults based on knowledge from the past. We read history books, visit museums and places of old. Our music is based on the evolution of old music, same as dance. It's not strange to see these themes coming back, but they are completely individually and culturally depended (aka, what is the individual brain actually exposed to during it's lifetime), as the imagery is formed based on encoded memories and the erratic firing of neurons in the visual cortex creating non-linear fractal like closed eyed imagery that is infused with feelings of significance by biographical memory.

Strange. I always take 22 grams of truffles (dutchie) which is quite a strong dose but not THAT strong, which gives me very strong closed eyed visuals, bodily stimulation, at the peak feelings of mystical experience, extremely holistic paralel thinking and strong critical introspection. Feels like a long journey squashed inbetween 3 hours.

I also always write down a short letter to myself beforehand, discussing where I am in life and how I could do better, together with a list of topics I would like to think about and explore (for example, in which segment of brain do the closed eyed visuals originate and can they be consciously manipulated and if so what does that mean for our sense of free will) or more personal things (do I really love my crush or is this just sex), things like that.

Gives more structure and meaning if you do it like that.

You are right but only if you take those drugs like a filthy casual. If you were to take higher dose it would be close to impossible not to have a life changing experience (not only in the good way).

Also if you were to do meditation or self-enquiry the potential of the chemical could be reveled to you. But most people have no fucking clue what those things even really mean and just listen to music, talk about weird colors with their friends or do fuck all so of course nothing happens and then they have the false notion of what these chemicals are able to do.

Ala: >>9913100

I am aware its miscommunication, or, different communication. I don't wish them to be deep and profound, the thoughts and decisions arising from it are often just extremely helpful. Feel rejuvinated after it, with more focus and motivation. I'm not at all a mystical person and think perennialism and other dimension stuff ridiculous. It's just a brute force meditative session that does much more than being sober.

>> No.9913234

The question is that if the profundity of it is deliberately aim for and induced by it makes it somehow worthless or not valid.

What is profundity anyway? The fact that anything can even exist is profound by itself but when we wake up in the morning we don't really see it that way because we are used to it so much.

Psychedelics are what we belive they are. They can be worthless and they can be profound. And I believe that the fact it can be anything says something important about our existence. For hundreds of years we are trying to figue out what is the truth. We believe it is one thing and everything other is false. The psychedelics showed me personally that the truth can be anything depending on which perspctive you are looking from and there is no right perspective to look from. Every perspective is right and wrong in their own way. There is no perspective that would take into consideration everything in existence to make the right conclusion.

Yeah, psychedelics are nowhere near harmless, that's why everyone keep talking S&S all the time. You can take MDMA and you'll feel great no matter what you do, but LSD will not force you to feel good. That's the point, it's enhancing what you feel and makes everything incredible.
