Do negative thoughts have any effect on reality? As in causing certain events to happen?

No, thoughts are immaterial. they have causes, but cannot exert any consequences.

no, superstitious bullshit like that is meaningless just the same for all the "choices" you make. determinism is a thing, i can't prove it to you, but i've had it proven to myself.

That would depend on how much human thought, emotion and action can directly effect reality, wouldn't it?

Negative thoughts are an indication of your emotional state/energy, which possesses the potential for what kind of influence you exert on reality

Skip to 30b for your answer - this was an idea the CIA genuinely had an interest in. I've read most of it - its very dense but interesting. A lot of pseudoscience, but quite a lot of interesting stuff in too.

No. A technologically-unaided brain has no direct causal power upon anything outside your own body.

/sci/ since OP is talking about psionic powers, I would like to sidetrack this whole thread and ask if it is possible to set objects on fire with just the mind?

>> No.9874176

>>9873134
The theories and ideas they are exploring here is not in the realm of the empirical, but of a future science as extra dimensions, infinite energy etc. It's worth a read.

Regarding the "mind making" ideas, I don't think its like a power that can move objects or make things happen just by thought, but by changing the individual's conscious processes to help the individual achieve his aims. its more esoteric and mysterious than our current, worm's eye view understanding of the universe.

In this world, is the destiny of mankind controlled by some transcendental entity or law? Is it like the hand of God hovering above? At least it is true that man has no control; even over his own will.

There is strong evidence to suggest that 'padding' your reality with strong emotional stimulation such as blind optimism to over-zealousness does affect you. There is also a correlation between these emotional states and the drive behind staying alive, both from historical points of view (Roman soldiers believing in Mars glory and protection/Vikings believing in earning a place in Valhalla) and contemporary situations (Various religious tests of faith e.g strychnine or venom/Extreme survival situations).

There is definitely something to be said for mental fortitude, but even for those who don't have the discipline to train their prefrontal cortex they can instead adopt either of these strong emotional stimuli to be used in a similar but unpredictable fashion, the trick though isn't to be aware of it or count on it rationally, when it comes to this 'padding' it has to be involuntary and fervent. The main problem with this is that it doesn't come from a place of reason and to be a rational person who wants to use the practicality of these methods requires losing yourself, if possible at that point since it seems a certain level of ignorance is required to adopt this 'padding' of reality.

All thought comes from previous thought. In my understanding of conscious processes, no. We don't all have "free will" per se, we're like organic computers that have an abstract, mutual software that is infinite and compatible with the universe, but we can only learn things where the 'formulas' (let's say) have already been 'thought out', so in my opinion, its all predetermined (Determinism).

'When I see the universe, I see a clock without a clock maker' - Albert Einstein.

'We cannot see God 'a priori' - that is, see the cause in and of itself, but 'a posteriori' - that being we can see God through its effects, as an observation.' - Thomas Aquinas.

When I see teenagers on the internet who are quite happy to shit over anything even remotely religious in order to seem 'smart' they come off as more stupid. To look at the Universe (a clock without any discernible clock maker) and say that it's all for nothing or for no reason, it doesn't make sense to me.

We exist to exist. We are the Universe's self-consciousness.
