Is it possible to rewire your brain significantly to alter certain personality traits like making a kleptomanic abhor theft or a narcissistic altruistic?

addictive drugs cause major "rewiring"

So does torture and traumatic experiences. Look into what the CIA was testing with MKUltra and the Monarch programs. They would torture, physically, mentally, and sexually, young kids in an attempt to give them multiple personality disorder.

Yeh, I know about those methods, but for the sake of decency how about something more humane and non-degenerate.

Yes, the technical psychological term is something called "learning"

Depending on if you have a pre existing mental condition, I would suggest an 1/8 of shrooms done in private and preferably alone. The thing is, you can't just do the shrooms and expect them to change you. You also have to want to change and go on an introspective trip into your own psyche while taking an honest look at your life and the decisions you've made up until that point. It will be heartbreaking and probably drive you to tears, but it can be good for some. If you don't want to go that route, exercise, and I mean hardcore exercise, every single day to the point of passing out. It will literally rewire your brain.

Knowledge and character aren't the same thing.I would like to see a pedophile learn his way out of kiddy-diddling.

Google psychology of learning or pick up a book. Cognitive psychology deals with knowledge and how it is acquired, stored, and recalled. Learning is basically behaviorism which deals with actions and behavior, not content knowledge. There are plenty of things you can do to train yourself to behave or have certain responses to. Basically that's what free to play games do, introduce you to something and reward you for doing it. They then tell you if you give them money, you can do the thing better.

Mushrooms and exhaustive physical exertion both sound good.Do you know any real life examples of people who have undergone mind alteration that can be cited?

I would like to see people who use words without knowing their definitions pick up a dictionary, but character really is immutable.

There’s a lot of Patnent methods one was inducing someone into a coma with insulin and using shock therapy they claimed they could rewire anyone into a violent serial killer or the exact opposite

What you describe sounds more akin to passive conditioning than active learning.

Deeply rooted no doubt but ultimately malleable if their is real willingness and effort to change.
>I would like to see people who use words without knowing their definitions pick up a dictionary,
