Read this if you are a medfag or want to become one.
I'm currently a resident in Plastic Surgery in Switzerland, probably one of the best countries to live in and work in , as well as just all around one of the better ones.

My advice to you: do not get into medicine via studying medicine. The curricula are from a time when the internet was not available. You can easily study the material of 6 years in 1 year in todays world.
So what should you do instead? FIND somebody who has a medical degree and make them work for you for any project that requires one.

And instead focus on something where you actually learn new shit and stuff which is interesting and not just rote memorization of terminology and basic logic.

How much iq is necessary for study medicine?

>> No.9828909

>>9828887

120+ in Switzerland , you basically take an IQ test with all other applicants (around 10 k , with around 400-600 seats available) and the best 20-25% get taken
keep in mind that to apply you already need to have been very good at school for at least 6-7 years though

you can find everything online, most of the time even in better formats than what you would find at even the best universities
you don't require time to go through each book/atlas etc. you can just use ebooks, you can find intricate details about cases extremely quickly and so on

the 6 year curriculuim is built around older times, when these resources were not available

neither PhD or MD mean anything in the research world, except that you are a doctor that can basically treat people and their illnesses
they are just titles from remnant times when doctors used to also do research

Where can I find a standard, structured medical curriculum to base my self-study off?

I somewhat already do this with my anatomy and physiology, neuroscience studies, but I would like to add some structure.

In United States, having MD makes it much easier to do research, especially doing anything with clinical trials

Wow great idea. I'll just reach into my Swiss bank account for the money that will allow me to pay a doctor to do projects for me.

Do you really want the truth about medicine? here it goes:
> fight your ass off to get into medschool
> get rejected
> fight your ass off to finish medschool
> become a slave during internship, say goodbye to hobbies, family and any life you used to have before
> fight your ass off to get into the medical specialty you want
> get rejected
> get into medical specialty you don't want or randomly picked
> become a slave again
> fight your ass off to finish your specialty, now you are on your 30s
> finally you are a doctor, well done. Now work your ass off to pay back your uni debts and insurance
> get sued
> get sued again
> and again
> as you get old get ignored by colleges
> lose your licence 'cause you are too fucking old
> dedicate the rest of your life to uni and be the laugh of your colleges
> die
> well done, you've accomplished the ultimate medical god state

But then also
> get unique insight into the human condition
> have highly sheltered profession that in truth is piss easy and at the same time boasts superior prestige
> learn interesting stuff about your own body
> see life and death, thus learning to cope with own mortality
> can do clinical work, research, teaching, administration, can become an entrepreneur - never gets boring, there probably is no other major that offers such a broad pack of possible things to do
> chicks dig it
> lots of nurses that will approach you, they're not disgusted by anything bodily
> thinking about STEMfags rotting in front of blue computer screens in the middle of the night posting in woman hate threads on r9k while you're getting paid to sleep is also kind sweet

So lets say I self-study medicine. Then what? Who's going to hire someone who claims they taught themselves medicine and has no proof? Who would want to be operated on by that guy?

Lol okay mate maybe for brainlets at US med schools

In the UK shits great, theres not anything very difficult to understand in medicine just loads of content. If you learn how to study effectively by missing all of school lectures, only using online resources, spamming anki etc it's a fucking breeze

I never said it was hard, because it's not. It's abusing, that's what it is, you ether learn to like it (like I did) or you quit, but it's still abusive anyway.

>> No.9833122

>>9833103

Exactly, im the original OP. It is hard because you need to grind your way through it, no matter how smart you are.

>>9830510

You overestimate greatly what people learn, remember, and apply in their day to day lives.
