So I've read a lot about peoples experiences with interhips in engineering here on /sci/ but I've never seen much about internships in CS. Anyone here who has done an internship in CS that can describe your experience? What did you do as an intern? Did you enjoy it? How does it compare to what you learned in school?

I spent a semester working for a local charity. Going in, I thought I'd be building them a new database to track donations and stuff like that. ~2 weeks in I realized no one there had any authority to make any decisions, everything had to be decided by a board that met less than once a month. So all I really did was make sure their anti-virus software and their OS's were up-to-date, disk defraggs were done, and backups were made. I spent the rest of the semester setting minesweeper high scores. Best time was 7 seconds on the smallest board.
