Is this a good book to get a feel for quantum computing? I'm a mathematics student looking to get a feel for the context before I start slamming down algebraic geometry on quantum resistant crypto schemes.

Also, if yes, is the 10th anniversary edition worth it for $70 over $35 for an older print?

It's a pretty standard textbook for the topic. But it's designed for compsci and physics students, not sure how you'd like it. Don't really know much about the paper editions.

Book use basic mathematics and intro QM almost for CS students or newcomers.

Standard intro textbook for grad physics/cs students. (I used KLM in undergrad, didn't like it as much.) Will give you everything you need to know to get started with the subject. Not really a mathematics text by any means but important for learning what quantum computing and information is in the first place.

I ordered it, will flip through it and can always return it I find I'd like more rigour.

I like it. I know little about physics but it seems this book runs you through the essentials of all main fields, so that should include physics. Will bookmark the link for later reference.

Should be fine!

I've had my eye on Hall's book for quantum theory specifically for a while now, I can always supplement the book from the op with it if I end up needing it. Thanks all!

Almost forgot, the difference seems to be no more than a new prologue and epilogue.
