What's the most prestigious journal you've published in? I just got a first author publication in pic related and I'm pretty happy about it.

Never published but I work less hours and make more than you

I've published in PMLA does that count? It's got a 98% rejection rate.

I started tinkering with my undergrad research topic once again now that I've graduated and have more free time. I've made some pretty impressive progress, but how do I publish now that I'm not affiliated with any institution?

Why wouldn't it?

most journals I am aware of do not require the author(s) to be affiliated with any institutions. However I think you'll have to fight harder to get your work accepted since reviewers are likely going to be more sceptical of an "outsider"... even though in a perfect world that really shouldn't be true

Fourth author on a publication in the Transactions of the American Fisheries Society.

On a related note, anyone know an entomological journal that would accept an extremely detailed and verbose research manuscript on an obscure, cryptic species of butterfly?

You did a great job! Congratulations! You can enjoy some time to reflect on this before you begin another interesting piece of research.
