Fell for the chemistry meme.
Best for physical chemistry is McQuarrie, heads and shoulders above the rest (pictured).
I can't remember the title of the worst, but I read this garbage fire of a book on inorganic mechanisms in third year. Dry as fucking sawdust and one of the most important graphs on the topic had a error in it.

Maybe not the best, but this book is the bible for every major aerospace structures manufacturer and every aerospace structures engineer. Naturally, it's been out of print for 50 years.

Synthetic Organic Chemist here, but I loved P.Chem. (just not the job market). This was hands down my favorite book in undergrad. Loved the biographies they included as well.

Haven't read this one. But I did take a course that used "Quantum Chemistry" by the same author. Honestly the book feels overall hand wavy and does not elaborate on the subjects it discusses.

Not to mention that my prof was a quack and the book didn't help one bit.
