Ahmedabad, India (AHN) - An 81-year-old Indian yogi, who claims to have not eaten nor drunk for more than 70 years, has baffled doctors examining him in Ahmedabad, India as he remained alive and healthy without food and water for two weeks.

Godman Prahlad Jani has been at the Sterling Hospital since April 22 as doctors of the Defense Research and Development Organization try to learn how he survives without eating and drinking for 24 hours and then teach his technique to soldiers.

CUT THIS FUCKING THREAD OUT

IT DOESNT REAL

The Goddess Amba Mata gave him the power to survive without eating and drinking when he was a child, according to Jani , who volunteered to be medically studied to help science and Indian soldiers.

Some 35 doctors, who plan to study him for up to six months, were amazed

if you are real scientists you would not just dismiss it offhand, Maybe he has figured out a technique that actually works and does have a basis in reality.

He "gargled" water once a day during his observation AKA he drank small quantities of water ever day. he also lost weight during his observation period (which was two weeks). anybody can go two weeks without food. if he could back up his claims he would not drink any water and not lose any weight. http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/2010/04/they_arent_doing_the_right_tes.php

a "real scientist" has a pretty finely tuned bullshit detector but will entertain new ideas with a high degree of skepticism. one thing that the last forevers worth of observation has told us is that people need food

There is a way to induce a pseudo-hibernation state where you only need to breathe once every five minutes or so. It may be similar to this case, where instead of just his breathing, he was able to slow down his metabolism enough so that he only needs to eat once a month or so. Its physiologically impossible for him to not eat or drink anything at all indefinitely. He may as well be immortal if that's the case.

Some years ago I had a conversation with a layman about flying saucers -- because I am scientific I know all about flying saucers! I said "I don't think there are flying saucers'. So my antagonist said, "Is it impossible that there are flying saucers? Can you prove that it's impossible?" "No", I said, "I can't prove it's impossible. It's just very unlikely". At that he said, "You are very unscientific. If you can't prove it impossible then how can you say that it's unlikely?" But that is the way that is scientific. It is scientific only to say what is more likely and what less likely, and not to be proving all the time the possible and impossible. To define what I mean, I might have said to him, "Listen, I mean that from my knowledge of the world that I see around me, I think that it is much more likely that the reports of flying saucers are the results of the known irrational characteristics of terrestrial intelligence than of the unknown rational efforts of extra-terrestrial intelligence." It is just more likely. That is all.
