but nobody wants to hear the truth about weak statistics and too many uncontrolled variables. So to get funding, physiologists have to sensationalize their findings more than other fields, which takes away all of its credibility and leads to false conclusions.

It's one of those disciplines that straddles the line between hard science and social science. Ultimately, it's a wide field, and it can be studied either scientifically or non-scientifically. There's a big difference between behaviorism and psychotherapy, for example.
