What can I do with a math degree?

10 months and still no job

The degree doesn't guarantee you a job.
The fact that you don't see this is probably why you're a neet.

cryptography and statistics are the most common jobs

big data management for scientists, seriously we need it

working on AI algorithms

Quantum computing algorithms. New computation system needs its own algorithms.

Teaching and tutoring math can make a shit ton of money. I know a guy at UBC in Vancouver that had a line of up idiots pay9ing him $120 per hour! to teach them 1st year calc and algebra. Another friend of mine charges $80 per hour to the kids of rich parents to tutor highschool level math.
If you want to do pure math you have to be a prof.

But I just got turned down for an office assistant job
I think my only option is Walmart at this point
Which if it is means I'll shoot myself in 2 months

Work harder at your job search

You bothered to get a degree and then you didn't put any real effort into finding a job and convincing companies they want to hire you.

also job hunting is fucking aids for everyone

I cosier myself a good candidate and put a ton of effort into job hunting. Final round interviews at goldmans, morgan stanley and bank of america and shit all to show for it at the end apart from a lot of "we really liked you but the field is highly competitive"

It takes time but you need to develop it fully.

Fill out the entire thing and make sure you write an executive summary at the top.

Don't rely on it too much because it is who you know that often gets you the job.

Don't give up, keep applying. make sure you setup job alerts on linked in an government websites. Lots of labs want people with math skills.

Also, try to connect with recruiters on linked in and by going to their websites and signing up with your information.

Make sure you always maintain a professional appearance. it is really important

I get that, and you're just being a good son (or daughter?), but he must realise you need time to invest into your career.

Talk to him about it, the expectation that you spend time job hunting may even be good motivation.
