Is this up to date? How much of what I just read is worth retaining? Or am I going to make an ass of myself for pretending I have any idea what relativity, quantum mechanics, and string theory are about?

>inb4 yes if you don't know the math.
Yeah. I gather that. I don't plan on pretending to be an expert. I plan on knowing what I read, assuming it's worth remembering.

Why do brainlets do this?

Brilliant. Anyone outside your field of expertise should kill themselves.

Maybe I just want interesting new thoughts about the universe I live in, and any dialogue at all about what I just read could be a means to that end. Instead I get a handful of buttfrustrated virgins upsetting themselves over their inability to interact with people.

Also, who the fuck said I didn't know the difference between momentum, velocity, speed, and motion? I asked if a handful of theories were properly represented in a certain book.

But that's not what physics is about whatsoever.

I'm not a physicist. I'm a linguistics major, actually. Not that that's at all relevant to my question.

And the answer to you question is "No!"
Read a textbook. It will be more informative, more interesting, more relevant if you actually wanna talk about science. Popsci is less than a glib facsimile of what you should read.

Nothing is well represented without the bare minimum of math. Your de facto position aginst learning also the minimum math is the reason we called you a faggot (at least me), and yea

What theories were presented? Did you encounter any algebra? How bout any proofs of statements or example problems? If the answer is no, then it's a bunch of incoherent junk and isn't really science.

If you don't know the math, you know precisely dick. Without the math it's utter nonsense and is a complete waste of time.

I opened this book when I was an undergrad. I consider it harsh criticism when I say that on the first page he said "this is the metric" but didn't immediately also say wtf the metric is.
