The absolute state of /g/.
Computer (((science))).

Sure when it's done properly it is a field of the sciences, but most people that study it don't have any understanding of what they're doing. If algorithms are that hard just drop out and go be a codemonkey.

Hi!

I studied computer science (graduated last year). You can AMA if you want.

you seem bitter. I don't know why. I personally don't consider computer science a science. I don't understand why you would think that would offend anyone.

You seem helpful and friendly. People should AYA if they want.

Don't worry about it. They do. Even in very good engineering schools there's a frightening share of students who choose to specialize in software engineering (so they study webdev and shit they've been supposed to know for a year and will base their early career solely on that).

Also, /g/ might be the least educated place to discuss CS. Half of it shits on OOP with zero argument and accomplishes nothing more difficult than Lisp fizzbuzz.

Theoretical CS is science (or a branch of applied math if you wish). Programming is engineering. I won't AYA since you're too stupid to make that distinction.

how does it feel to be a brainlet?

I'm sorry I don't consider math a science. I'm sorry you think I'm a brainlet for that.

I actually lost marks on an assignment because the TA who marked it thought this:
[math]3xlog(x-3)^2 = 9xlog(x-3)[/math]
was true.

>Programming is engineering
only some of it. most software "engineers" are actually software developers

>> No.9552873

>>9552865
it is true. You must be confused and thinking,
[eqn] 3x \log^2 (x-3) \ne 9 x \log(x-3)[/eqn]

>> No.9552878

>>9552873
No, it isn't. [math]\log(x-3)^2 = 2 \log(x-3)[/math].

>> No.9552883

>>9552878
Yeah I agree that is true. You are confused.

Is this seriously standard notation?
when we write
[math]f(x)^2 [\math]
we mean
[math] f(x)*f(x)[\math]
right?

So why is it different for logarithms?

Even wikipedia says it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logarithm#Product,_quotient,_power,_and_root

According to wikipedia the you shouldnt be able to use the power rule for the equation

Doesn't that meme imply science is a Jew? I don't understand nu-/pol/.

They're trying to imply it's not real science, and Jews or illuminati or whatever are trying to get you to study it or something.
