CS is good knowledge to have like learning a foreign language. It's just stupid to go to university to get that knowledge when it's faster and better to just learn it on your own. Not to mention that most universities (especially all american ones) have terrible CS programs.

You can get translator jobs by proving you can speak a language and you can get software eng jobs by proving you know your shit. Make a github and code up your own compiler, micro OS, stock trader, etc and you won't have any problems getting job offers.
