answer this question cosX-sinX=0.5

pic unrelated

>> No.952383

cosX-sinX=0.5
(cos-sin)X=0.5
X = 0.5/(cos-sin)

>> No.952398

Square both sides
Finish it from there with your identities

>> No.952401

>>952383
cant be done as you need a value to put infront of sin and cos

>> No.952405

use <span class="math">\cos^2{x}+\sin^2{x}=1 [/spoiler]

>> No.952408

>>952398
why would you do that? and also im looking for the value of X

>> No.952419

Square both sides
use (cos^2)x + (sin^2)x = 1

>> No.952422

i_lost_the_game.jpg

>> No.952424

squaring 0.5 gets 0.25 not 1... so it wont work

>> No.952427

I'm reporting thread left right and center today. It's good to be the king.

>> No.952428

Ok from trig. rules it follows that cos(x)-sin(x)=tan(x)
So we get:
tan(x) = 0.5
x = ~0.46

>> No.952431

>>952424
wtf

>>952408
i'm sick of your shit kid
as soon as you read this delete this thread

now gtfo /sci/ and never come back
and to the rest of you don't fucking bump hw threads

>> No.952460

ah shit its actually sinX-cosX=0.5

>> No.952468

>>952452
this isnt a fuckin HW thread this question came up on an exam i took and the answer was 0.63 the fact that you fail asses cant get it right just shows how smart ya'll are

>> No.952470

it's the same thing

next time ask wolframalpha then
i'm not a fucking calculator

>> No.952480

>>952452
AND when you put the answer you got you actually get 1 not 0.5 so you know for a fact you got the wrong answer

>> No.952488

>>952470
not really its actually different, whats 7-2 and 2-7? 5 and -5 so different questions means different answers

>> No.952494

>don't fucking bump hw threads
I agree.

>> No.952498

>>952488
(7-5)^2=(5-7)^2

>> No.952503

>>952481
well fuck aint this the science and math? thought i would see how you guys would approach this type of question as i just used f(X)=sin(x)-cos(x) on my calculator and made it do it from 1-100 in steps of 1

>> No.952505

|7-2| = |2-7|

hey bro, you're the closest one to a math literate in this thread so i'll go easy on you...

2sinxcosx = sin2x =/= 1-sin2x. if you make that correction and continue what you did you should get the right answer
