The idea behind global warming is that the globe's weather becomes more extreme as time goes by, the cold regions get colder and the Hot regions get hotter, that's how it works. The winters are breaking records? well I guess global warming is true then.
btw, global warming is a natural process, it would gradually happen either way, the problem for many is if it's accelerating due to human activity on Earth or not. I say, we are gonna get fucked either way, so might as well give it a shot and try to fix it.

Global warming has as one of its consequences that the climate will be more extreme, meaning more unstable and less predictable. You fail to understand that global warming doesn't mean the whole earth is is alwas going to be warmer at any point in given time, it means that winters will be more cold, summers will be more extreme, thus making life in general for people, and for animals less easy to adapt to.

Global warming means more energy is added to the atmospheres and seas, and to some small degree (no pun intended) the land. This extra energy means volatility. Atmospheric events happen faster and with more energy. This includes pushing air off the poles. The cold air you are experiencing comes at the expense of the Arctic and Antarctic regions becoming warmer. Hence the increased calving in the Antarctic and the diminishing ice cap (both in seasonal duration and size), even while you experience more cold. But your summers will make up for that.

3 pretty simple lemmas:

1. CO2 and many other gases have "greenhouse" properties in that they allow visible light to pass through (hence invisible), but trap and re-emit infrared radiation. This is literally 19th century science, first proposed by Joseph Fourier in 1824, verified and quantified experimentally beyond reasonable doubt by Svante Arrhenius.

2. CO2 in the atmosphere has been rising, and this is a result of fossil fuel combustion (pic related). CO2 can be measured experimentally in the lab, and the stable isotopes of CO2 plunges into the negative values. Fossil fuel has distinct negative isotopic signature compared to natural CO2. This is also an undeniable fact from observation.

3. You add 1+2, you would expect the radiative energy budget of the earth to be out of equilibrium. This is exactly what we observe, based on satellites that measures total energy in vs. energy out by CERES satellite at NASA. https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Features/EnergyBalance/page6.php On average, only 71% of energy entering the Earth is leaving. 2nd law of thermodynamics and conservation of energy states that when a system had energy imbalance, T must go up.

In short, CO2 causes greenhouse effect. Humans put CO2 into the atmosphere through fossil fuel burning. The earth is now in energy imbalance due to additional CO2, and therefore warming. All basic, high school physics that should be easy to understand

Not really desu the airburst hypothesis is mostly retarded but fun
I'm actually partial to theory about melting freshwater fucking up ocean currents. Ironically caused by warming climate similar to the present day.

If greenland ever decides to melt we're fucked

Problem is, it hasn't balanced out in several years. Because energy keeps getting added into the system and greenhouse gasses keep energy from escaping.

The coldest months are generally January and February.

Just like the hottest months are generally July and August.

It doesn't start warming straight after the winter solstice, nor does it start cooling straight after the summer solstice, there is a time lag because during early winter the Earth is losing built up ground heat from the summer and fall months, and vice versa.

For as long as September, October, November and December haven't been the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th months respectively. For as long as no one thought it strange that a leap year adds it's day onto the end of 2nd month rather than the end of the 12th month.

It isn't about being right or wrong about what way the average temperature seems to move. Any considerable and consistent change in climate trends over an observable period would be cause for concern. Using an ambiguous label isn't being dishonest when we don't fully understand the phenomenon on a global scale. Especially when we can't project the trend to the future accurately enough to identify the what effect it will have on the "global" climate.

>For as long as no one thought it strange that a leap year adds it's day onto the end of 2nd month rather than the end of the 12th month.
Why should it be on the 12th month?
What difference does it make? Aside for in systems where day of the month is limited to a maximum of 31 which would need to allow 32 for the special case of leap years instead of February just using some of the buffer it has.

>> No.9387917

>>9382645
>Consider this other thought experiment, Sun outputs 131% energy how long to reach equilibrium?
Decades at the least.
A 30% higher output from the Sun would cause a lot of permafrost to melt along with a lot of ice in areas that are usually always covered.
This would lead to the Earth absorbing more heat as the Sun pumps more into the system.

Eventually it would stabilize but it would be a global disaster for humans and many other animals.

Its an extra day in the year. It makes sense to add it onto the end of the year.
So its added on february.
Because february is actually the 12th month.
And january is the 11th month.
So january and february as the 11th and 12th months coming after december, the decadent, decisive, decimal 10th month, makes sense.
