Why must pain be so unpleasant? I mean I get it has to be unpleasant for it to work but was there really no other way? It's just so annoying because you feel it nonstop even if you are already taking measures to deal with the injury. And sometimes pain makes it harder to deal with injuries which is why anaesthesia is necessary for surgery. Why do we have to feel it even when we are not injured (like Migraines for example)?

How strong is science working on ways to deal with pain? To me it's the #1 problem in life.

Because evolution isn't driven by design, it is driven by random mutation.

This, chronic pain isn't by design. It's a consequence of how our nervous system functions. It works well enough to keep us out of trouble long enough to reproduce, that's all "fitness" it needs to impart.

BDSM is done with consent, it's not rape, basically yor partner dominates you with objects on you genitals and such, I would request if you're sensitive to stuff like this, but its on pornography and tons of sexologist study this, but BDSM is basically masochist, is it not?

I think pain as anoying as it might be is usefull in terms of pain alerts the brain of the problem, the brain can react to find a solution and heal. Of course one needs to be logical and know when to see a doctor, and when to find a way to east the pain.

Mindset and diet seem to be the most important aspects of pain perception. There really is no good mechanical, electrical, pharmacological, approach to dulling or eliminating pain. There is always a cost, and always some degree of negative functional alteration.

Type 2 trigeminal neuralgia.
The deep, raw, burning sensation is better than it used to be. Many days it's background noise. Some days it's not in my awareness at all, just numbness and a faint sense of something. I feel like some part of my consciousness is constantly partitioned off though. I feel fragmented and like something is missing, things are more difficult than they should be, there's just something wrong with my whole mental space. When the pain truly returns and briefly peaks, I feel whole. It's very strange. The memories of when it was constant feel like another life. Before that is simply hazy.

Chronic pain'll do some shit to you. "Exit does not exist."
