what is this?

One of Fynemans things I believe. He was ridiculed at first for that. I've seen it on that sitcom as well

Two electrons colliding and producing a photon and two muons? Am I reading that right?

>> No.9279209

>>9279203
Electron and muon bouncing off each other exchanging a virtual photon in the process.

Check the time axis on the right.

Ah, and the vector arrows would help too.

>>9279227
The arrows can be misleading when you start to incorporate antimatter and stuff, because they can be shown as backwards matter. Best to remember that the diagrams always go bottom to top.

Usually go bottom to top anyway.... There will be a time axis if not. But yeah, don't use the vectors.

It's an emu. A large, flightless bird native to Australia.

I've show you a book on ABC theory you can buy. It's technical when you need it to be and not much more. Used it for intro grad school, but honestly you could use it once you knew multivariate and maybe a little linear

Buddy these things happen at the same instant in time, no time eclipses. The whole time analogy is just so you initially don't freak at math and overthink it.

>> No.9279355

>>9279340
There is clearly an order of events going on here. The direction of time flow is essential to the diagram. It's in an instant yes, so the axis doesn't need labels, but the time direction is important.

Simultaneity is relative. There is no absolute simultaneity, especially at relativistic speeds. Every teenager who has completed high-school survey of special relativity knows that.

t. Knows quantum mechanics.

It's a momentum space integral over the virtual photon. But this diagram is really simple, since momentum conservation at the vertex fixes what q can be.

It's an illusion. The line appears longer because of the orientation of the arrows
