yo whas up fools, im planning to study comp sci in uni but im kinda anxious about the mathematics that im going ot take. anyone want to give me an overview on what kind of maths i should expect?

Comp sci students don't learn any mathematics.

Check what the degree requirements are from the school you're interested in.
Generally it's going to be some combination of: discrete math, calculus, binary math, other shit

Not if they go to a shit uni they don't

Nice meme
I'm in CS and haven't touched a computer nor discussed programming in monthes

At my university, these are the mathematics courses that CS students take:
Calculus
Linear Algebra
Discrete Mathematics
Probability/Statistics
Combinatorics

If you want to be a codemonkey, no not study compsci

I hate this. My CS degree requires enough math courses to grant a math degree. Others don't take math beyond business calc and stats but get the same "comp sci" degree.

>not programming in your computer science classes
A real computer scientist should never type a single line of code, leave that for the pajeets.

Take software engineering?

I honestly dont get the code monkey meme about people majoring in CS.

At the university I study at, in Denmark, the majority of the students become consultants when they finish their MSc in CS. The starting salary is about 82k which is pretty damn nice.

Is it just because you amerifags are so incompetent at uni?

It's some /sci/ meme.
I'm American and comp sci mathematically rigorous where I live. The code monkey degree if you ask me should be web dev.

>t. code monkeys

Enjoy copy/pasting code for a few months before getting replaced by rajeet!

I'm at a JC for CS, and to transfer I need to take every math class that a math major needs to take to transfer, as well as every physics class a physics major needs to take to transfer, short of modern physics. That all together is >30 units by itself, not counting any actual CS classes or electives.
In short, I want to kill myself.

why? having a math stacked semester is ezmode read book, do problems, profit. And if you fuck up anywhere its immediately obvious and strictly defined.

I haven't had math in 2 years (was working) and just started uni. Any help?

>> No.9267552

If youre worried about maths, don't do CS then. We don't need anymore mathematically challenged turds masquerading as scientists

And by profit you mean further yourself into debt
