I realized music impedes concentration whenceforth I don't listen to it whilst studying anymore.

I do because I have tinnitus and the ringing is infinitely more distracting than music.

if I am working on a difficult problem I like no noise or white noise. if I am doing routine work I like some music.

I do for several reasons.

1) It drowns out distracting background noises.

2) It helps me memorize.

I listen to a different song every time I'm studying a section/chapter of a subject. When I need to recall that subject, I hum the song was listening to when I was studying. Songs with minimal lyrics are the best, so you don't have to memorize all of the lyrics of the song too, just the beat and the catchy bits. Songs with no vocals aren't that good either because a lot of songs can sound very similar if there aren't any vocals.

If I'm working on homework then yes, but if I'm studying I don't
